Job summary

City of Columbia seeks a Landscape Supervisor to develop, implement and maintain City right-of-ways landscaping projects. You will design color displays using AutoCAD/VectorWorks and supervise horticulture crews to ensure quality and safety.

The role requires a two-year degree in horticulture or landscape design and two years of relevant experience. The position involves coordinating permits, assisting with grants, and educating staff and the public about horticulture and department activities.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in horticulture or landscape design or closely related field.
  • Two (2) years of relevant prior experience.
  • Valid South Carolina Class “D” Driver’s License.
  • Pesticide Applicator Certification, preferred.
  • Experience working with AutoCAD, VectorWorks, or other landscape design drawing tools/software, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates and supervises City landscaping projects on City right-of-ways.
  • Supervises crew members engaged in landscaping activities; assigns work and reviews performance.
  • Reviews subordinates' work for accuracy and provides training as needed.
  • Uses AutoCAD/VectorWorks to design landscaping plans for new projects and renovations.
  • Designs seasonal color displays; develops project specifications and cost estimates.
