Company is seeking an experienced Design/Build Sales & Design Manager to lead the sales and design team and drive department revenue, profitability, and overall performance.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone with strong landscape design knowledge, proven sales experience, and the ability to coach and develop a team. The manager will oversee the sales pipeline, design process, project pricing, and transition of projects from sale through production.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Design/Sales team, including goal setting, coaching, performance management, and accountability.
- Drive department sales, revenue, gross margin, pipeline, and backlog goals.
- Manage the sales process from lead qualification through signed contract and production handoff.
- Participate in client consultations, site visits, presentations, proposals, and closings.
- Review and approve pricing, estimates, proposals, and project margins.
- Oversee landscape designs to ensure they are creative, accurate, buildable, and aligned with client budgets.
- Manage design schedules, workloads, revisions, and design-hour budgets.
- Ensure complete and accurate construction documents and project handoffs.
- Coordinate closely with estimating and production to ensure projects are ready for construction.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and industry referral partners.
- Standardize sales and design processes and ensure consistent use of company systems.
- Monitor key performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support the team in resolving client, design, and project issues.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in residential landscape design/build.
- Proven experience in both consultative sales and sales management.
- Track record of selling and closing landscape design/build projects ranging from approximately $25,000 to $600,000+.
- Strong knowledge of landscape design, planting, hardscape, grading, drainage, and construction.
- Experience managing design teams, sales professionals, or both.
- Strong understanding of estimating, job costing, gross margin, and change orders.
- Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Experience with landscape design software such as Pro Landscape, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Lumion, or similar platforms is preferred.
- Degree or training in landscape architecture, landscape design, horticulture, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
