Job summary

Boys Town in Omaha, NE seeks a grounds maintenance professional to support horticulture, floriculture, greenhouse, landscape and grounds activities across outdoor display areas. You will operate, maintain and repair environmental control systems; plant and maintain display areas; manage propagation, seasonal cleanups, and turf/landscape installation; and help with snow and weather cleanup.

The role requires physical work, on-call availability, and a commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of landscaping practices, tools, and safety procedures.
• Ability to interpret instructions and organize tasks for completion.
• Experience with installation and maintenance of landscaping plants and materials.

Responsibilities

• Assist with horticulture, floriculture, greenhouse, landscape and grounds activities.
• Operate, maintain, and repair environmental control systems.
• Plant and maintain outdoor display areas using approved control measures.
• Determine propagation methods and raise floricultural crops.
• Maintain greenhouse facilities and winter care for exotic plants.
• Remove substandard plant materials and perform autumn cleanup.
• Manage equipment and supplies, control inventory.
• Use grounds maintenance equipment and Boys Town vehicle as needed.
• Assist with snow removal and weather cleanup.
• Maintain turf and flowerbeds; contribute to landscape design and installation.
• Control weeds and grass growth via weeding, cultivation, pruning, and weed trimming.
