Job summary

Schill Grounds Management is seeking a Landscape Crew Member to assist the Landscape Crew Leader in executing landscape plans. The role may specialize in enhancement or maintenance work and requires flexibility to perform either as directed by a supervisor.

You will operate mowers, trimmers, blowers, skid steers, and other equipment, perform maintenance, and help with planting, sod, pruning, and installations. Snow removal is also required in winter months.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to identify common plants preferred.
  • Willingness to perform enhancement or maintenance tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Landscape Crew Leader in executing enhancement plans as directed.
  • Operate equipment including mowers, trimmers, blowers, and more.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and basic repairs.
  • Pick up trash and debris as needed.
  • Plant, lay sod, trim, and prune per plans.
  • Complete hardscape projects and outdoor lighting when required.
  • Support lawn and landscape installations and maintenance operations.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather and long hours, including winter snow removal.

Job description

A Landscape Crew Member is responsible for assisting the Landscape Crew Leader in executing landscape plans. Some Landscape Crew Members may specialize in either enhancement or maintenance work, but all Landscape Crew Members should be willing and able to perform either enhancement or maintenance work at the discretion of their supervisor. All employees are expected to carry out the company’s purpose and demonstrate our core values.

As a Landscape Crew Memberat Schill Grounds Management, you must be able to perform the following essential functions of the job:

  • AssistLandscape Crew Leaderin execution of landscape enhancement plans as instructed by the supervisor.
  • Operating equipment including commercial zero-turn riding mowers, brake-controlled walk behind mowers, line trimmers, blowers, etc.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Picking up trash and debris, as needed.
  • Plant, lay sod, trim, prune as the job requires.
  • Complete hardscape projects and outdoor lighting, as needed.
  • Complete landscape and lawn installations, as needed.
  • Perform any tasks related to lawn and landscape maintenance operations.
  • Safely use various equipment including skid steer, mini excavator, sod cutters, bush hogs, brick saws, transits, various hand tools, etc.
  • Perform snow removal in the winter months.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

JOB SKILLS AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

  • Availability to work a varied schedule including Saturdays, as needed
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions including wet, rain, snow, or extreme heat or cold
  • Basic understanding of mechanical equipment maintenance
  • Ability toidentifyplants, preferred
  • Ability to read and follow landscape plans

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Valid driver’s license is preferred, with acceptable driving record to meet fleet insurance standard

Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test

Must be able to move and/or lift up to 60 pounds consistently

High school diploma or GED, preferred

Ability to operate the equipment listed above, in addition to other commonly used landscaping equipment

WORK CONDITIONS

Employees performing this job should be able and willing to drive or travel locally if needed. Schedules for this position may vary and may require flexibility to work extended hours. Potential work hours during the snow season include nighttime, weekends, and holidays to participate insnow removal activities. This position will require working outdoors in various weather conditions including rain, snow, sun, extreme cold, or heat.
