Job summary

The Garrett Companies is seeking a Landscape Architect Intern to support schematic design, design development, and construction documents for multifamily projects nationwide. The intern will work with our in-house Landscape Architecture team on a range of tasks in multiple markets across the country.

Candidates are rising juniors or master’s students in Landscape Architecture, familiar with AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite, and able to produce drawings and presentations.

Qualifications

  • Rising junior or Master’s student pursuing a Landscape Architecture degree at an accredited university.
  • Extremely detail oriented with strong problem-solving and anticipation skills.
  • Willingness to learn from internship curriculum and professionals on the team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Landscape Architecture team with schematic design, design development, and construction handoff.
  • Produce graphic presentations, renderings, and construction drawings for bidding and permits.
  • Research local zoning codes to ensure designs are permit-ready.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and regulators to meet goals.

What You’ll Be Doing:

The Landscape Architect Intern will work alongside our in-house Landscape Arc hitecture team o n a range of projects in multiple markets across the country. This intern will assist with schematic design, design development, construction documents and construction administration. The primary focus will be on multifamily development projects.

Major Objectives:
  • Research topics and summarize findings as they relate to specific project needs.
  • Help with the production of graphic presentations, renderings, and construction drawings suitable for bidding and regulatory approvals and permits
  • Research local zoning codes to help ensure designs are complete and fully prepared for permit / plan reviews
  • Help prepare landscape and site feature design presentations.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, contractors, fabricators, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

Assist our in-house Landscape Architecture team with specific tasks related to the development process and construction handoff.

Requirements
Required Skills:
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe Photoshop, Indesign and Acrobat), WORD and EXCEL
  • Strong graphic design abilities
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and multiple projects.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team of professionals as needed.
  • Ability to take direction and a willingness to learn.
Required Education:
  • Rising junior or Master’s student pursuing a Landscape Architecture degree from an accredited university
Prerequisites (these are the most important items):
  • Extremely detail oriented.
  • Relentless problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to anticipate.
  • Must understand the difference between causation and correlation.
