Job summary

The Garrett Companies is seeking a Construction Intern to support Project Managers and Engineers across active construction projects. The role blends in-office and on-site experiences, offering hands-on exposure to project documentation, reporting, and coordination with subcontractors.

You will shadow a Project Manager, track progress, and help with contracts, change orders, and reports, while developing a wholistic understanding of project delivery in a dynamic internship program.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Construction Management or related field.
• Experience with marketing, public speaking, and presentations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Become proficient in Procore and assist with daily observation reports, documentation, drawing sets, submittals, and punch lists.
• Support office and on-site construction teams.
• Assist with bid analysis, schedule, scope review, and contract drafting.
• Assist in generating project reports to site team and subcontractors.

What You'll Be Doing:

As a Construction Intern, you'll play a key role in assisting our Project Managers and Project Engineers to ensure that a full range of construction activities are completed successfully and efficiently. Construction Interns work in unison with a specific project team through various stages of an active construction project. While this position is primarily based in-office, this role will gain exposure to on-site construction activities, providing a wholistic experience of how a project team works together to complete a project.

Major Objectives:

• Project Shadowing: Work closely with a Project Manager to understand the day-to-day responsibilities of overseeing the execution, communication, and teamwork it takes to complete a construction project.
• On-Site Experience: Visit construction sites and help track project progress - see how plans become reality and how challenges are managed. Traveling to your specific job site will be a part of your internship experience.
• Team Collaboration: Support construction team with subcontractor coordination, material tracking, file management, document control, and progress reporting.
• Documentation Duties: Help maintain project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and reports - stay organized and keep everything on track.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
