Job summary

Strada LLC in Pittsburgh seeks an experienced Landscape Architect/Designer to lead landscape architectural services across studio teams. You will perform site analyses, coordinate permitting, and guide design evolution from sketches to complete documentation for a variety of scales and typologies.

The role requires a strong background in construction methods, plant knowledge for the PA/Mid-Atlantic region, and proficiency in BIM/3D modeling.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years of landscape architecture experience; PA licensure preferred, but eligibility to obtain licensure in a timely manner considered.
• Strong understanding of construction means and methods, material selection, and code requirements for varying project types and scales.
• Project management skills including budgeting, task prioritization and scheduling.
• Experience coordinating external consultants including engineers, construction contractors, product reps, and permitting professionals.
• Ability to prepare construction-level technical documents, plans, and specifications.
• Strong design sensibility and knowledge of Pennsylvania/Mid-Atlantic regional plants.
• Proficiency in sketching and rendering to create strong conceptual designs.
• Familiarity with BIM and 3D modeling software and/or CAD.

Responsibilities

• Leading landscape architectural services in a collaborative design environment with architects, interior designers, and graphic designers.
• Performing initial project due diligence, site analysis, zoning, and code review.
• Coordinating/supporting permitting application packages for municipal, county, and state review.
• Assisting in the development of designs through sketches, modeling, diagrams, and other visual formats.
• Executing project documentation through all design phases including master planning, site layout, traffic circulation, grading, planting and irrigation, lighting, structural designs, specs, and utility planning.
• Coordinating project constraints and technical details with the internal design team, external consultants, and clients.
• Supporting construction administration on projects, including site visits, meetings, drawing revisions, and submittal reviews.
• Reviewing design documentation for quality control, accuracy, and alignment with design intent.
• Assisting with proposals and cultivating client relationships to develop new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Leading landscape architectural services in a collaborative design environment that includes architects, interior designers, and graphic designers

• Supporting construction administration on projects, including site visits, attending construction meetings, developing creative technical solutions, preparing drawing revisions, and reviewing project submittals
• Reviewing design documentation for quality control, accuracy, and achieving design intent
• Assisting with proposals and fostering relationships to develop new business opportunities

Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities

• At least 7 years of landscape architecture experience, with active licensure in Pennsylvania preferred, but those with an ability to obtain licensure in a timely manner will also be considered
• Strong understanding of construction means and methods, material selection, and applicable code requirements for varying project types and scales
• Project management skills, including budgeting, task prioritization and assignment, and scheduling
• Experience coordinating external consultants, including engineers, construction contractors, product representatives, and permitting professionals
• Ability to prepare construction-level technical documents, plans, and specifications
• Strong design sensibility and knowledge of Pennsylvania/Mid-Atlantic regional plants
• Proficiency in sketching and rendering abilities to create strong conceptual designs
• Familiarity with BIM and 3D modeling software and/or proficiency with computer-aided drafting software
• Proactive, resourceful self-starter who can multi-task and juggle multiple projects
• Excellent written, oral, and graphic communication skills
• Positive, open-minded, solution-oriented attitude with cooperative skills to share design ideas, communicate design intent, and collaborate within a team dynamic
• Engagement with professional organizations and/or volunteer associations

Pay and Benefits

The salary for this position falls in the range of $70,000 to $90,000, commensurate with education and experience, paid on a semi-monthly basis.
