Qualifications

• Strong hand graphics, sketching, and visual communication skills.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and 3D visualization tools.
• Experience preparing construction documents and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.

• Develop site design concepts, planting plans, and landscape architectural solutions for projects of varying scales.
• Prepare graphic visualizations, site plans, renderings, illustrations, and 3D models to communicate design ideas.
• Produce high-quality reports, presentations, and public-facing materials.

MJ Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Land Surveying, P.C. has an immediate opening for a full-time Landscape Designer/Architect to join our growing Landscape Architecture and Site/Civil Engineering team in Clifton Park, New York.

We are seeking a creative and technically skilled professional who can transform innovative ideas into thoughtful, constructible designs. The ideal candidate will bring strong design sensibilities, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Position Summary

The successful candidate will work independently and collaboratively with landscape architects, engineers, planners, and other design professionals on a variety of public projects throughout the Northeast. This role involves advancing projects from conceptual design through construction documentation, while contributing creative, technical, and graphic expertise throughout the design process.

Candidates should possess strong verbal, written, visual, and graphic communication skills and demonstrate a passion for creating meaningful outdoor environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop site design concepts, planting plans, and landscape architectural solutions for projects of varying scales and complexities.
• Prepare graphic visualizations, site plans, renderings, illustrations, and three-dimensional models to communicate design ideas effectively.
• Produce high-quality reports, presentations, and public-facing materials.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary project teams to advance projects through design and construction.
• Assist in the preparation of construction drawings, specifications, and technical details.
• Conduct site visits, field investigations, and construction observation as required.
• Support project managers with client coordination, consultant communication, and project deliverables.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor's or master's degree in landscape architecture from an accredited program.
• 3-5 years of professional experience in landscape architecture or site design.
• Strong hand graphics, sketching, and visual communication skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge of planting design, site grading, and landscape construction principles.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Proficiency in SketchUp, Enscape/Lumion, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience preparing construction documents.
• Experience with landscape construction, field observation, or site implementation is a plus.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Pay is based on applicant’s ability/experience and will be rated accordingly. We offer a very competitive benefit package.
