Position: Landscape Architect
Location: Raleigh, NC
Salary: $86,243 – $91,000
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Responsibilities
- Translate the University’s strategic plans into physical facilities that support campus growth.
- Provide general project support for physical facilities planning efforts, including analysis, documentation, and policy development.
- Consider social, economic, and environmental impacts for campus development.
- Coordinate planning efforts with design professionals to align with long‑range physical planning goals.
- Develop and manage project budgets, verify adequacy, and approve consultant invoices.
- Prepare feasibility studies, physical development plans, and site design proposals for stormwater, infrastructure, transportation, pedestrian access, and other needs.
- Establish and maintain project schedules and documentation, including meeting minutes and stakeholder communications.
- Anticipate issues, manage and prioritize multiple projects, and schedule tasks to achieve goals with minimal oversight.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related engineering discipline or equivalent training and experience.
- Knowledge of North Carolina building codes and relevant laws.
- Understanding of building design and construction from site analysis to project closeout.
- Experience with civil, landscape architectural, and utility systems.
- Proven administrative and project management experience, including permitting, specifications, and customer service.
- Applied knowledge of design, engineering, public safety, technology, and legal compliance.
- Extensive understanding of strategic/master planning, leadership, resource allocation, and community standards.
- Ability to analyze programmatic requirements, develop comprehensive project outlines, cost estimates, timelines, and planning strategies.
- Experience evaluating consultant design proposals and producing actionable solutions.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other design software for infrastructure planning and documentation.
- Valid North Carolina driver’s license.
- Licensure as a Professional Engineer or Landscape Architect by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors, or the North Carolina Board of Landscape Architects.
- All degrees from accredited institutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensure as a Professional Engineer or Landscape Architect in North Carolina.
- Experience presenting complex project materials to advisory committees or large public groups.
- Experience advising on strategic planning and institutional development.
- Effective collaboration with senior leadership, contractors, and external stakeholders.
- Expertise preparing design plans and schedules for informal (small) projects.
