Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in residential landscape architecture.
  • Active Landscape Architect license (State of Michigan or reciprocal).
  • Strong design-build background preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design process for custom residential landscapes.
  • Perform site analysis including field measurements and inventories.
  • Create detailed design packages including grading and planting plans.
  • Prepare 2D and 3D renderings and visuals.
  • Serve as primary contact with clients throughout the design phase.

This role is responsible for developing creative, functional, and buildable outdoor environments that reflect the client’s vision, meet site-specific requirements, and align with company standards. The Landscape Architect plays a critical role in design development, client communication, permitting, and coordination with the construction team to ensure exceptional project outcomes.Responsibilities and DutiesLead the design process for custom residential landscapes, including conceptual design, schematic development, planting design, and construction documentationPerform site analysis including field measurements, inventory, and assessment of existing conditionsCreate detailed design packages including grading plans, layout plans, planting plans, lighting plans, and construction detailsPrepare 2D and 3D renderings, sketches, and visual aids to support presentations and client communicationServe as the primary point of contact with clients throughout the design phase, providing guidance and design expertiseCollaborate with sales, project managers, and construction teams to ensure design intent is carried through during installationPrepare and review cost estimates and material take-offs for accuracy and feasibilityOversee and assist in the permitting process as required by local jurisdictionsEnsure all designs comply with local codes, environmental regulations, and site-specific constraintsMentor designers and assist with internal design reviewsContinuously research new materials, planting strategies, and design trends to keep the firm at the forefront of residential landscape designOther duties as assignedJob RequirementsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited programActive Landscape Architect license (State of Michigan or reciprocal)5+ years of experience in residential landscape architecture, with a strong design-build background preferredProficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office; experience with rendering software (e.g., Lumion, Enscape) is a plusStrong knowledge of hardscape construction, planting design, grading, drainage, and sustainable site practicesExcellent visual communication and presentation skillsStrong interpersonal skills and confidence in leading client meetings and team collaborationExceptional attention to detailIndustry specific certifications such as CGIP or CNM are ideal.Must possess superior interpersonal skills with clients and colleagues, and do so with excellent written and verbal communicationValid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites, as neededThe Perks401(k) plan with company matchMedical insuranceDental insuranceVision insuranceFSA/HSAPerkSpotLong-Term Disability and Life InsurancePaid time OffTuition Reimbursement (after one year of service)Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
