Job summary

Drost is looking for a Landscape Designer in Petoskey, Michigan to support the design team by creating functional and appealing landscape plans. The ideal candidate will assist in concept development, drafting, estimating, and presentations under a licensed architect's guidance.

Qualifications

This role is responsible for assisting in concept development, drafting, estimating, and preparing presentations under the guidance of a licensed landscape architect. The ideal candidate brings creativity, horticultural knowledge, and technical skill to support the successful execution of custom outdoor living environments.Responsibilities and DutiesAssist with site analysis, including site measurements, photography, and drone pilotingProduce accurate base plans, conceptual designs, planting plans, and construction drawings using CAD and/or hand draftingPrepare 2D and 3D visualizations (renderings, sketches, models) to support design presentationsCollaborate with internal teams (sales, construction, project managers) to align design with budget, schedule, and buildabilitySource materials and develop plant palettes appropriate for the site and client preferencesContribute to cost estimates, material take-offs, and design revisionsAttend client meetings, take notes, and participate in design discussionsCoordinate with vendors to confirm availability and suitability of materialsCoordinate with local and federal agencies to obtain permitting for work proposedOther duties as assignedJob RequirementsAssociate or Bachelor's degree in Landscape Design, Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, or a related field (degree preferred but not required with equivalent experience)Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office (or equivalent)Strong plant knowledge and interest in residential outdoor living spacesFamiliarity with construction materials, grading, drainage, and landscape systemsAbility to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environmentIndustry specific certifications such as CGIP or CNM are ideal.Must possess a strong ability to multi-task, and exercise efficiencies in time managementMust possess superior interpersonal skills with clients and colleagues, and do so with excellent written and verbal communicationValid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites, as neededThe Perks401(k) plan with company matchMedical insuranceDental insuranceVision insuranceFSA/HSAPerkSpotLong-Term Disability and Life InsurancePaid time OffTuition Reimbursement (after one year of service)Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
