The Pennsylvania State University’s Office of Physical Plant (OPP) and Planning, Design, and Properties (PDP) department seeks a highly motivated staff Landscape Architect. This position offers an opportunity to shape the built environment at a leading university while contributing to its legacy of excellence.

You will be part of a team that includes a senior landscape architect, the University Planner, and the University Architect. Your focus will be on design projects across University Park, Commonwealth Campuses, Hershey Medical Center, and Dickinson School of Law. The position reports to the University Planner.

Key responsibilities include:

  2. Creating landscape master plans for the Commonwealth Campuses.
  3. Leading or participating in meetings with university clients (Facility Coordinators, Project Managers) to address their needs and operational requirements.
  4. Reviewing consultant design work and overseeing construction on capital projects for the campuses.
  5. Assisting in site selection processes considering campus infrastructure and tree populations.
  6. Participating in master and precinct planning led by consultants or the University Planner.

Core duties involve supporting senior landscape architects in managing campus environments through long-range planning, siting new buildings, developing design guidelines, and implementing sustainable land stewardship practices. Supervision is provided by the University Planner and other senior professionals within PDP.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience; four or more years preferred.
  • Professional licensure as a Registered Landscape Architect.
