Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking a Landscape Architect with 6+ years of professional experience to join our Boise, Idaho office. The role requires leading design through construction on a variety of project types, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and engaging with clients and city representatives.

You'll advance site planning and landscape design, manage documentation and QA/QC, and mentor junior designers while growing into leadership. Portfolio samples may be requested.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of professional experience in landscape design and production.
  • Registered or on-track for Idaho licensure (PLA/CLA).
  • Strong grading, detailing, and construction documentation skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Land F/X and Adobe Creative Suite; familiarity with Lumion and SketchUp.

  • Lead and support the design, documentation, and delivery of public and private sector projects.
  • Develop creative, technically sound site planning and landscape design solutions — with a strong understanding of grading, drainage, and constructability.
  • Prepare and review construction documents, details, and specifications with an emphasis on quality control and quality assurance.
  • Participate in the construction administration phase, including submittal reviews, RFIs, site visits, and coordination with contractors and clients.
  • Manage tasks, schedules, and budgets while coordinating across disciplines.
  • Mentor junior designers and contribute to team growth and training.
  • Engage directly with clients and city representatives during design and review processes.
  • Contribute to proposals, scope writing, and project presentations.
  • Leverage tools such as AutoCAD Land F/X, Adobe Creative Suite, Lumion, SketchUp, and GIS to develop and communicate design intent.

Overview

Kimley-Horn is seeking a Landscape Architect with 6+ years of experience to join the Boise, Idaho (ID) office! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

You’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team on a wide range of project types — from mixed-use and multifamily developments to parks, urban streetscapes, and civic destinations. You’ll take design ideas from concept through construction, contributing to every stage of the process.

  • Lead and support the design, documentation, and delivery of public and private sector projects.
