A background check and drug screen are required before starting. Schedule is 7am-5pm for two weeks of training, then 8:30am-5:00pm, Monday through Friday with no weekends. The role serves as the first point of contact for customers depositing waste, checks loads, and ensures safety rules are followed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 0 to 4 years’ experience is acceptable.
• Occasional physical effort handling objects <30 pounds.
• Exposure to physical risks and to dirt, noise, weather extremes or similar elements is part of the workday.
• Strong customer service, cash handling, and computer skills are valued.

Responsibilities

• Greets customers, directs traffic, answers questions accurately.
• Calculates payments for customers.
• Ensures incoming loads are safe and free of inappropriate material.
• Ensures PPE use and safety compliance by customers and staff.
• Performs administrative tasks and data entry as needed.
• Attends training and meetings; works overtime as required.

We have a great client looking for a Scalehouse Attendant at a landfill in Jacksonville, FL! This is an onsite, 6-month contract to hire opportunity offering a starting pay rate of $18.50/hour. This opportunity comes with the likeliness of an extension or direct conversion! This position requires a background check and drug screen prior to starting.

Job Summary

Serves as the first point of contact for customers depositing waste at the facility; calculates payments, checks loads and ensures the safety of the customer and other employees through observation of safety rules and regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

• Greets customers, directs customers and other traffic, and answers questions accurately.
• Correctly calculates payments for customers.
• Ensures that incoming garbage loads are safe and do not contain any inappropriate material.
• Ensures that customers and employees conduct all business in a safe manner and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Provides general upkeep of the Scale House.
• Completes all administrative tasks including regular filing, and completes required reports.
• Keeps immediate supervisor fully informed of all problems or matters requiring his/her attention.
• Attends company sponsored training and meetings as directed.
• Works overtime as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned, including data entry and minor customer service responsibilities.
• Approaches all encounters with employees, customers and vendors in a friendly, service-oriented manner.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D
• 0 to 4 years’ previous experience
• Preferred: High school diploma or G.E.D, plus additional or specialized training
• Required to exert physical effort in handling objects less than 30 pounds occasionally
• Required to be exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals, etc) occasionally
• Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements part of the workday.
