Job summary

City of Little Rock is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to support landfill and related dirt work. The role involves operating a variety of heavy earth-moving equipment to prepare and maintain landfill space and road areas at the City Landfill, following safety and city standards.

The ideal candidate will have high school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of relevant operating experience, plus one year in a lead worker role.

This position is designated as a safety/security sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

JOB OBJECTIVE:

To operate a variety of heavy equipment in the preparation and maintenance of landfill space, roads and in other dirt or material work at the City Landfill.

These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through completion of high school and two (2) years of experience in the operation of heavy earth moving equipment and one (1) year of lead worker experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must obtain an Arkansas Division of Environmental Quality (DEQ) 1A License within one (1) year of employment.
• Must obtain Arkansas Divisionof Environmental Quality (DEQ) 2B License within one (1) year of obtaining non-renewable 1A License and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position.
