Job summary

WM is hiring for a landfill laborer to perform a variety of site tasks, including keeping windblown litter under control and directing traffic at peak times. The role involves operating a mobile vacuum, driving a tractor-pulling unit, and assisting with maintenance and material handling at the tipping area.

The position requires adherence to safety rules, potential drug testing, and the ability to work outdoors, often in busy conditions. Pay is hourly and onsite with standard benefits.

Qualifications

• Licenses as required by Local, State, Federal, Environmental and/or Health/Safety Regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

• Manually picks up windblown paper along landfill periphery and carries a large plastic bag while walking the fenced border.
• Uses a mobile vacuum to gather loose paper and refuse and drives a tractor pulling the vacuum along the border and adjacent land.
• Directs truck traffic at peak times from the landfill entrance and communicates with drivers by hand signals or verbally.
• Lifts construction materials and uses hand tools (shovels, picks, axes, chainsaws) for site maintenance.
• Manually separates metal, white goods, lumber and cardboard from trash on the tipping floor.
