Job summary

WM is seeking a landfill laborer in Austin, TX to perform a variety of site duties. The role involves clearing windblown debris, operating a vacuum tractor to collect litter, and directing traffic at peak times. You will also handle basic material lifting and use hand tools as needed.

Qualifications

• Licenses as required by Local, State, Federal, Environmental and/or Health/Safety Regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

• Manually picks up windblown paper from periphery of landfill and carries a large plastic trash bag while walking the fenced border and adjacent land.
• Uses mobile vacuum to gather loose paper and debris, operating a tractor pulling the vacuum along the landfill border and adjacent areas.
• Directs traffic at the landfill entrance during busy summer periods, communicating with drivers verbally or by hand signals.
• Lifts construction materials for site maintenance and uses hand tools such as shovels, picks, axes and chainsaw.
• Manually separates metal, white goods, lumber and cardboard from trash on tipping floor at landfills with transfer station.
