Job summary

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the principles and practices of municipal solid waste collection and disposal.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to landfill operations.
• Knowledge of supervision, organization, and administration.
• Knowledge of safety precautions involved in operating motorized equipment.
• Ability to evaluate workload and organize assignments; independent judgment and decision-making.
• Ability to interpret and implement codes, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in directing and scheduling Landfill operations and personnel.
• Coordinate workload, equipment, land clearing, and safety training; operate GPS surveying equipment for grade control.
• Recruitment, selection, and training of landfill personnel.
• Operate heavy equipment used in landfill operations.
• Maintain inventory and operation of equipment, containers, tools, and supplies.
• Develop, implement, and enforce safety programs to protect employees and the environment.
• Assist with post-closure system management and gas collection system improvements.
• Consult with the Solid Waste Director in the Manager's absence.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
