Job summary

City of Albuquerque is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to support landfill operations. You will proficiently operate large machinery and perform basic maintenance while following safety procedures.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, two years of heavy equipment/construction experience, and a valid NM driver's license; COP within six months is preferred. Work occurs in a hazardous environment with heavy truck traffic.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of heavy equipment operation and heavy construction experience.
• One year of experience operating equipment at an active landfill preferred.
• Valid New Mexico driver's license or ability to obtain by date of hire.
• Possession of City Operator's Permit (COP) within six months from hire date.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment to perform trash compaction and earth moving tasks.
• Read elevation stakes, verify slope, and construct/maintain cells and roads.
• Perform minor repairs or preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Maintain logs and records; follow safety procedures and SOPs.
