Actalent in Oklahoma City is seeking a Controls Technician to support landfill gas systems across Oklahoma. This field role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining control equipment at multiple sites, with regular travel in a company vehicle and home nightly travel within 100 miles of Tulsa.

You will perform mechanical and electrical repairs, collect accurate field data, and work outdoors in varying weather.

Job description

Job Title: Controls Technician Job Description This role supports operations and maintenance activities for landfill gas systems across multiple sites in the Oklahoma. This technician travels regularly in a company vehicle to various landfills to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain landfill gas collection and control equipment. The position focuses on safe, reliable field work, hands-on mechanical repairs, and accurate data collection to support environmental engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Travel regular (home each night however) within Oklahoma (all within 100 miles of Tulsa) to multiple landfill sites using a company vehicle to perform field service work.
• Troubleshoot landfill gas control systems and identify issues affecting system performance and safety.
• Perform repairs on control systems, including flare and related control components.
• Pull, repair, and reinstall pumps used in landfill gas collection systems.
• Service and repair air compressors used in landfill gas operations.
• Perform pipe fusion repairs (HDPE) on landfill gas piping and related infrastructure.
• Complete accurate data entry and documentation of field activities, repairs, and test results.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, walking extensively across landfill and field environments.
• Follow all safety procedures and contribute to a safety-focused culture in all field and travel activities.
• Maintain a clean driving record and operate company vehicles in a safe and responsible manner.
• Coordinate with operations and maintenance teams to prioritize work, communicate site conditions, and support project goals.

Essential Skills

• Experience working in an outdoor environment that requires extensive walking, such as military, landfill, or field service work.
• Mechanical and electrical experience with hands-on repair and maintenance of equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot control systems and mechanical components in the field.
• Ability to perform accurate data collection and data entry for field activities.
• Clean driving record, with the ability to pass a three-year Motor Vehicle Report review.
• Comfort working in landfill and field environments while adhering to safety protocols.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in landfill operations or environmental engineering projects is a plus.
• OSHA 40 Hazwoper training or experience working on hazardous waste or environmental projects is beneficial.
• Experience with environmental data collection systems and basic reporting is helpful.

Work Environment

This position is field-based and involves frequent travel within Oklahoma (Tulsa, Muskogee, Oklahoma City) to various landfill sites to perform repair and troubleshooting work. Will be home almost every night! The technician works primarily outdoors in landfill and field environments that require extensive walking and exposure to changing weather conditions. A company truck is provided for travel, and per diem is available for overnight stays, which are described as rare. The role involves working with landfill gas systems, control panels, pumps, air compressors, and piping, using mechanical tools and field testing equipment. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oklahoma City, OK.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
