The position includes reviewing development plans, coordinating with agencies, conducting public hearings, preparing staff reports, maps, and plans, and supervising staff at the Planner III level.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of comprehensive planning and zoning administration, development processes, and codes.
• Understanding of county ordinances, state statutes, and land-use practices.
• Ability to prepare staff reports, hearings findings, and related records.
• Experience supervising planners and coordinating with commissions.

Responsibilities

• Review development and subdivision plans for compliance with zoning and codes.
• Coordinate applications and review processes with affected agencies.
• Administer public hearings, schedule and preside at hearings.
• Verify compliance with stipulations on permits and subdivisions.
• Maintain planning maps and prepare staff reports and proposals.
• Provide guidance to the public and County staff on planning issues.
• Prepare and present planning and zoning code changes to commissions.
• Coordinate with GIS Analyst on map updates and related documents.
• Represent the County in regional and intergovernmental planning matters.
