Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is seeking Land Use Planners to provide expert planning support to local governments and public entities in Carson City. The role involves developing and revising land use ordinances, master plans, and related planning documents.

Incumbents will engage with state and regional planning boards, manage the State Clearinghouse NEPA process, and advise on planning law and processes as part of a statewide portfolio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in land use planning or closely related field plus three years of professional land use planning experience including developing master plans and coordinating planning projects.
• OR two years of experience as a Land Use Planner I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Nevada State Clearinghouse database as the single point of contact for NEPA proposals with potential to impact land use in the State.
• Serve as Cooperating Agency staff on proposed federal land projects and planning efforts when appropriate.
• Assist with city and county master plans, zoning ordinances, and land division ordinances; communicate the state's interests in local planning efforts.
• Disseminate information on planning law and processes; facilitate complex, high-profile state-wide councils and boards (e.g., SLUPAC, NTRPA).
• Represent the division in land use planning capacities to local governments and public entities.
