The City of Denton, TX invites a qualified Land Use Attorney to join the City Attorney’s Office. This role focuses on municipal and land use matters, planning and environmental issues, and coordination with the Development Services Department, Planning and Zoning commissions.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• Three or more years of progressively responsible experience in municipal law, land use, zoning and environmental law, with substantial planning/engineering experience.
• Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will enable performing essential functions.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal services to the Development Services Department, Planning and Zoning Commission, and Zoning Board of Adjustment.
• Advise City Council, City Manager, and staff; review documents and provide opinions.
• Conduct legal research on municipal land use issues; document findings and recommendations.
• Prepare, review, and analyze contracts, policies and other legal documents.
• Represent the City in negotiations and ensure alignment with policy and law.
