Job summary

The City of Denton seeks a skilled Land Use Attorney to join the City Attorney’s Office. Under the City Attorney’s direction, you will handle municipal and land use matters for Development Services, Planning and Zoning Commission, and Zoning Board of Adjustment, and advise City Council and Staff.

Requirements include a JD from an accredited law school and 3+ years in municipal, land use, zoning and environmental law, with strong planning and engineering experience. Bilingual preferred.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• Three or more years of progressively responsible experience in municipal law, land use, zoning and environmental law, with planning and engineering matters.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal services to the Development Services Department, Planning and Zoning Commission, and Zoning Board of Adjustment.
• Advise City Council, City Manager, and staff.
• Review documents and provide legal opinions and advice.
• Conduct legal research on municipal land use issues and present findings.
