Job description

Williams Parker, the region’s largest and oldest law firm founded in 1925, is seeking an experienced Land Use Attorney with 5+ years of experience to join our dynamic team in Sarasota, Florida.

Williams Parker has been an active participant in and contributor to the area’s growth since our formation in 1925. Much of our land use, development, and local government practice’s success is attributable to our extensive network of personal and professional relationships. Clients seek us because they know we understand the community and how things work at the local level. As a practitioner with Williams Parker, you will represent public and private sector clients, including nonprofit organizations, before municipal and county boards and commissions. Besides our work representing private interests obtaining governmental approvals and permits, you will also be regularly engaged to advise local governmental entities on issues unrelated to land use. You will typically work with our Real Estate attorneys on development projects.

  • Education: Juris Doctorate degree from ABA-accredited law school.
  • Licensure: Member of The Florida Bar or licensed to practice law in another state and in good standing. Willingness to sit for The Florida Bar exam in the near future is required if not already admitted.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience practicing law, with a strong focus in land use. Ideal candidates will have technical expertise in zoning, permitting, and land use issues, including administrative proceedings and hearings before boards, commissions and councils on comprehensive plan amendments, re-zonings, special exceptions, zoning code amendments, street vacations, subdivision approvals, and environmental reviews.
  • Client Service & Relationship Building: Demonstrates an unwavering commitment to exceptional client service and long-term relationship development. Maintains professionalism and confidentiality while delivering responsive, thoughtful counsel.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Communicates legal concepts clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. Collaborates effectively with colleagues and professional staff to support successful outcomes.
  • Strategic Thinking & Problem Solving: Applies analytical thinking to complex estate planning and tax matters. Proactively identifies and resolves issues, adapting to evolving regulations and client needs.
  • Business Development & Initiative: Shows enthusiasm, initiative, and reliability. Contributes to the firm’s growth through a strong work ethic and drive for results.
  • >Leadership & Time Management: Plans, organizes, and prioritizes multiple tasks efficiently. Manages workload independently while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
