Job summary

JBA International seeks a Municipal Land Use Associate in California with 4–6 years of relevant experience to join our public agencies practice.

You will manage land use due diligence, permitting, and entitlement strategies for development projects, while advising clients on regulatory matters including CEQA and NEPA and contributing to complex zoning and environmental issues.

Qualifications

• Experience with land use due diligence, permitting, and entitlement strategies for new developments and redevelopment projects.
• Interest in public agency representation and the ability to provide practical legal advice on complex regulatory and land use matters.
• Strong background in land use law, with experience in CEQA, NEPA, planning, zoning, and environmental laws.
• Excellent legal research, writing, drafting, and analytical skills.
• Self-motivated, collaborative, and client-focused, with experience keeping clients informed throughout their matters.

Our client, a full-service California law firm with extensive experience representing cities, counties, special districts, and other public agencies, is seeking a Municipal Land Use Associate with 4–6 years of relevant experience.

Key Qualifications

• Experience with land use due diligence, permitting, and entitlement strategies for new developments and redevelopment projects, including guiding clients through the approval process.
• Interest in public agency representation and the ability to provide practical legal advice on complex regulatory and land use matters.
• Strong background in land use law, with experience in CEQA, NEPA, planning, zoning, and environmental laws. Transactional experience is a plus.
• Excellent legal research, writing, drafting, and analytical skills.
• Self-motivated, collaborative, and client-focused, with experience keeping clients informed throughout their matters.
• Active membership in the California State Bar.
• Base salary: $165,000–$205,000, depending on experience.
• Annual performance-based bonuses.
• Reasonable billable hour expectations.
