Job summary

Apex Companies is seeking a Land Surveyor to join our Somerset, PA team. The role focuses on topography, stakeout, as-built, and control surveys using conventional methods and GPS, with UAV mapping responsibilities as needed.

You will work with design engineers, clients, contractors, and the public, contributing to accurate survey data, CAD/Carlson workflows, and safe field operations. This is a hands-on position with growth opportunities within a national firm.

Qualifications

• GED or High School Diploma, Associates Degree preferred.
• 3+ years of survey experience.
• Ability to work with design engineers, clients, contractors, and the general public.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Experience with different surveys and survey equipment.
• Able to perform manual labor, carry 50+ pounds of equipment, walk across varying terrain.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Thorough understanding of safe work practices per OSHA.

Responsibilities

• Perform topography, construction stakeout, as-built, and control surveys using conventional and GPS methods.
• Perform aerial mapping surveys using UAVs and understand UAV technology.
• Proficient with Carlson and Trimble GPS systems.
• Understand construction drawings and CAD/Carlson software.
• Document field observations and prepare daily field reports.
• Perform office computations for stakeout.
• Observe safe work practices.
• Collaborate with engineers and clients on project goals.

This position is based out of our Somerset, PA office.

Your Responsibilities As a Land Surveyor

• Perform topography, construction stakeout, as-built, and control surveys using conventional and GPS survey methods
• Perform aerial mapping surveys using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and have a general understanding of UAV technology
• Proficient with Carlson and Trimble GPS systems
• Strong technical skills and knowledge of construction drawings
• Have a solid understanding of CAD/Carlson software
• Document field observations and prepare daily field reports
• Perform office computations for stakeout
• Observe safe work practices

What We're Looking For
