Job summary

Widseth Smith Nolting and Associates Inc. is seeking a licensed Land Surveyor to lead boundary and construction surveys, mentor field crews, and manage projects from kickoff to closeout.

Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS)
• 5–8+ years of land surveying experience
• Strong knowledge of boundary law and construction surveying
• Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, and Leica/Topcon workflows
• Ability to manage teams, projects, and client relationships
• Excellent organizational, communication, and decision-making skills
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to client sites

Responsibilities

• Lead boundary, ALTA/NSPS, construction staking, and topographic surveys across diverse projects
• Supervise field crews and provide technical direction and development
• Manage survey projects from kickoff to closeout within timelines and budgets
• Review and prepare plats, legal descriptions, ROW maps, and construction drawings
• Operate GPS, robotic total stations, laser scanners, UAVs and survey tech
• Collaborate with clients, project managers, engineers, and agencies
• Sign as surveyor in accordance with state licensing
• Champion safety and data integrity

What You’ll Do

• Lead boundary, ALTA/NSPS, construction staking, and topographic surveys across diverse project types
• Supervise and mentor field crews, providing technical direction and professional development
• Manage survey projects from kickoff through closeout — ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met
• Review and prepare plats, legal descriptions, right-of-way maps, and construction drawings
• Operate and oversee use of GPS, robotic total stations, laser scanners, UAVs, and advanced survey technologies
• Collaborate directly with clients, project managers, engineers, and public agencies
• Serve as signing surveyor in accordance with state licensing requirements
• Champion safety, data integrity, and continuous improvement
• Continue learning and growing professionally

What You Bring
