National Experienced Workforce Solutions in Glendale, AZ, via USBR ESP, seeks a Professional Land Surveyor for geodetic surveys and topographic mapping. You will develop tract maps, legal descriptions, and support field crews with guidance from a senior expert.

Requires a PLS license in good standing (or active reactivation within 3 months), a BA/BS in Land Surveying, and extensive experience with GPS, Trimble, and AutoCAD. Travel is bi-monthly; 20 hours per week at $65.80 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Perform geodetic surveys and topographic field mapping for varied terrains.
• Develop tract maps and legal descriptions; create drawings with AutoCAD and approve documents.
• Plan, schedule, and estimate all surveys including GPS for the office.
• Serve as senior expert; provide guidance to survey crews.
• Investigate property disputes; locate property corners and retrace descriptions.
• Maintain survey equipment, software licenses, and calibration.

Qualifications:

BA/BS Degree in Land Surveying with minimum additional experience of 20 year(s) in Professional land surveyor (1) utilizing state-of-the-art GPS systems; lidar and aerial photogrammetric/remote sensing and digital mapping; and experience conducting investigations or studies affecting geodetic survey activities and (2) serving as a technical expert on all survey activities and provides guidance and advise to one or more survey crews within the Region.

• Must possess a current Professional Land Surveyor's license in good standing with the Arizona State Board of Technical Registration or be able to reactivate license registration within 3 months of starting work to an active license status. Phoenix Area office will pay for reactivation or license fees through reimbursement. Required to possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Duties:

Professional Land Surveyor with experience performing geodetic surveys and topographic field mapping for several types of terrain and landforms. Develops, organizes, and implements geodetic and land surveying activities which includes cadastral, rights of-way, GPS surveying, Robotic Total-Station surveying, establishing primary control network and mapping quality control.

• Develops tract maps and legal descriptions based on field work. Creates official drawings with tract maps and legal descriptions using AutoCAD software and approves drawings.60%
• Manage, plan, schedule, and estimate all engineering surveys, and specialized global positioning surveys for the Phoenix Area Office.10%
• Serves as the senior expert and technical authority on assigned area of expertise providing opinions and advice to higher level managers, and professionals.10%
• Investigates and resolves unusual problems involving property disputes such as encroachment, locating property corners and retracing legal descriptions.10%
• Maintains Phoenix Area Office survey equipment, software licenses, and maintenance agreements to ensure all equipment is calibrated and operational. Recommends equipment/material purchases as applicable.10%

Other:

• Overnight travel: Overnight travel is anticipated Bi-monthly for a duration of a week.
• Air travel anticipated: Travel by air is anticipated bi-monthly to travel to the Phoenix Area Office, then field location with GOV where survey work is needed.
• Health and Safety Considerations: Review of Reclamation Safety and Health Standards, training to be provided internally by Phoenix Area Office.Training provided by Phoenix Area office on applicable lone work and remote worker safety, first aid and CPR.
• Safety Gear Use: Field Surveying activities.
• Physical requirements: Position is required to perform work in remote areas, on uneven ground, and be physically able to carry survey equipment weighing up to 20 pounds.
