Land Survey Technician

Allworld Project Management (AWPM) is an Engineering & Construction Project Management Firm committed to exceeding client expectations by delivering value-added solutions. We are seeking to add a Land Survey Technician to our dynamic team. AWPM is based in Downtown Memphis, TN, with additional offices in Houston, TX, and Birmingham, AL. This is a full-time onsite position in Memphis, TN, at various project locations.

Position Summary:

The Land Survey Technician plays a vital role in construction by providing accurate measurements for project planning and execution. Responsibilities include conducting boundary and topographic surveys, ensuring data compliance with legal standards, and working closely with survey teams. The technician operates survey instruments and processes data, contributing to project accuracy and efficiency. This role ensures projects are built on solid foundations.

Essential functions:

  • Assemble, adjust, and operate survey equipment such as electronic total stations, data collectors, GNSS equipment, and levels.
  • Perform field surveys for various projects.
  • Use total stations and other instruments to collect data.
  • Conduct boundary surveys to determine property lines and easements.
  • Assist in construction staking for proper placement of structures.
  • Prepare detailed survey reports and documentation.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong attention to detail.
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of field surveying practices and procedures.
  • Proficiency with surveying instruments such as total stations and GPS.

  • Ability to meet deadlines consistently.
  • Deliver high-quality work adhering to standards and project requirements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective resource management to maintain budget adherence.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making under pressure.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Work primarily at outdoor project sites, including rough terrain and all-weather conditions.
  • Stand for long periods; may involve manual labor.
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, reach, lift, push, pull, and carry items.
  • Climb to various elevations.
  • Visual acuity sufficient for reading symbols and performing computations.
  • Operate equipment while on feet.
  • Flexible schedule and ability to travel (~5%), including overnight stays.
