Job summary

Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. (GPI) seeks a mid-level Survey Technician in Scott Depot, WV. You will develop survey deliverables such as boundary surveys and existing conditions plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D, and you will process field data into final drawings under the supervision of a Survey Project Manager.

Preference given to SIT certification and prior field/office survey experience. GPI is an established multi-discipline engineering firm serving transportation and building-system projects

Qualifications

• 3+ years in drafting boundary and topographic surveys (as per requirements).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D in survey work.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite; LiDAR experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and complete drawings per project requirements using CAD tools.
• Modify drawings as directed by project manager or surveyor.
• Collaborate with surveyors and engineers for coordinated design.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as necessary.
• Assist field crews as needed.

Job Description

GPI is seeking a mid-level Survey Technician with a minimum of three (3) years of survey experience in our Scott Depot, WV office. This position is responsible for developing survey deliverables (boundary surveys, existing conditions plans, etc.) in AutoCAD Civil 3D; processing and importing field data into working drawings, existing conditions base sheets, and finalizing plans. The Survey CAD Technician will work under the direction of a Survey Project Manager. Preference would be given to applicants with Surveyor-in‑Training (SIT) Certification and previous field/office survey experience.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and completing drawings in accordance with project requirements using computer-aided design/drafting equipment
• Modifying drawings as directed by the project manager or project surveyor
• Working closely with other surveyors and engineers to ensure a coordinated design
• Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as necessary
• Occasionally assisting field crews as necessary

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in drafting of boundary and topographic surveys (Flexible)
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D in survey capacity
• Proficient with MS Office Suite
• Preference to candidates proficient in AutoCAD Civil3D
• LiDAR extraction experience is a plus

Requirements

• Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
• Possess a personal vehicle for use on or around a job site
• Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
• Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
• Able to stand for approximately 3 hours minimum a day up to 8 hours
• Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
• Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
• Able to move equipment or inspection specimens weighing up to 50 pounds
