Join BKF Engineers as a Land Survey Project Manager and lead the way in innovative surveying projects!

The Land Survey Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the surveying team and managing a variety of high-profile projects across California. You will ensure that all surveying activities are executed efficiently and meet the highest standards of accuracy and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate surveying projects from inception to completion, ensuring goals are met on time and within budget
  • Prepare and review surveying plans, including boundary, topographic, and ALTA surveys
  • Oversee field operations, including construction staking and data collection using advanced technologies
  • Collaborate with engineering and design teams to integrate survey data into project workflows
  • Provide technical expertise and mentorship to junior surveying staff
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and codes
  • Build and maintain client relationships, providing exceptional service and support
  • Maintain ongoing client relationships, pursue new professional connections and seek new project opportunities with clients
  • Prepare project proposals and participate in interview presentations
  • Lead project team activities, including but not limited to; reviewing and supervising technical aspects of work as well as defining project scope, budget, and schedule
  • Primary client contact
  • Mentoring and developing staff of engineers and evaluating performance
  • Coordinate staff resources with other teams
  • Contract negotiations, approve client billing, and secure contract amendments for changes to scope and fees
  • Meet or exceed group and individual performance goals
  • Assist in hiring and staffing prcess with group leadership.
  • Travel to various job sites and offices may be required


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geomatics, Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field
  • A minimum of 5 years of surveying experience, with at least 2 years in a project management role
  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license is required
  • Strong knowledge of surveying principles, techniques, and equipment
  • Proficient in CAD software, especially Autodesk Civil 3D
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage teams effectively
  • Experience in managing budgets and schedules to meet project requirements
  • Assist with special projects as needed
  • May require flexible hours
  • Travel between BKF offices and other off-site locations may be required


Physical Demands:

Must be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 20 pounds with accommodations.

Work Conditions:

Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting. Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. Travel to other BKF locations and client sites may be required.

  • The typical base salary range for this position is $115,000 - $168,000 annualized depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location. This is a salary position paid biweekly
