Job summary

Dewberry is seeking a Land Survey Instrument Operator for our Maryland office, with expectations of some travel to other Dewberry offices. The candidate should be responsible, highly motivated, and detail oriented.

The role involves assisting the field supervisor with daily crew workload, uploading data, maintaining instruments, and adhering to safety regulations while working outdoors on construction sites. A valid driver’s license and ability to pass a drug test are required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of survey experience.
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Good mathematical and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Trimble survey equipment (GPS, robotics, total stations, levels, data collectors).
  • Proficiency with Trimble Survey Controller software.

Responsibilities

Job description

Dewberry is currently seeking a Land Survey Instrument Operator. Applicant must be responsible, highly motivated, and detail oriented. The position is in our Maryland office, with expectations of some travel to other Dewberry offices.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the field supervisor with all aspects of the daily crew workload.
  • Work in a safe manner and obey all safety regulations.
  • Upload and download data collectors daily.
  • Care for, charge, and maintain instrumentation.
  • Continuously enhance knowledge of technology upgrades.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Minimum of one year of survey experience.
  • High School Diploma minimum.
  • Good mathematical and communication skills.
  • Computer and data collector proficiency.
  • Proficiency with Trimble survey equipment (GPS, robotics, total stations, levels, data collectors).
  • Proficiency with Trimble Survey Controller software.
  • Knowledge of 3‑D scanners is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a driving record check.
  • Must pass a drug test and be dependable.
  • Physically able to work outdoors and on construction sites under all weather conditions.
  • Ability to stoop, crawl, bend, squat, lift up to 50 lbs, and stand for long periods.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required.

Salary Range: The projected range for this position is $42,000‑$54,000 annually in our Baltimore, MD office. Depending on other factors such as skills, experience, location, and market conditions, the range may vary slightly.
