Job Description

Dewberry is currently seeking an experienced Land Survey Crew Leader to work in our Gainesville, VA office location. Applicant must be responsible, highly motivated, and a detail-oriented individual interested in joining our Land Surveying department as a Crew Leader. Applicant must be able to work in a team environment and supervise other members on the survey crew. Applicant must have extensive experience performing boundary, ALTA and topographic surveys, right-of-way acquisition, transmission line, transportation, and construction surveys utilizing the latest equipment and surveying technology. The position has opportunity for advancement for a motivated individual willing to grow with the changing skills and technology required of a crew leader.

Responsibilities
  • Daily coordination with field coordinator, project managers and other office staff.
  • Work in a safe manner and obey all safety regulations.
  • Supervise all members of the survey crew.
  • Work independently as a one person crew as required.
  • Daily uploading and downloading of data collectors.
  • Daily care and charging of survey instrumentation.
  • Continually advance knowledge with upgrades in technology and equipment.
Required Skills & Required Experience
  • Minimum of five years experience as a crew leader required.
  • Must have a High School Diploma (Minimum).
  • Must have strong supervisory skills.
  • Must be able to follow directions and assure all procedures and policies are followed.
  • Must have good mathematical skills.
  • Must have good computer and data collector skills.
  • Use/knowledge of Trimble survey equipment a plus. (GPS, Robotics, Total Stations, Levels, and Data Collectors).
  • Use/knowledge of 3-D Scanning a plus.
  • Use/knowledge of UAV Drones a plus.
  • FAA Part 107 Certification a plus.
  • Must have good communication and organizational skills.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and ability to pass a driving record check.
  • Must pass a drug test if required.
  • Must be dependable.
  • Must be physically able to work outdoors and on construction sites under all weather conditions and terrain.
  • Ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 50 lbs; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes, in addition the ability to stand for long periods on varied surfaces.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required.
Salary Range

The projected range for this position is $65,000-$84,000 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.
