Job summary

Dewberry is seeking an entry level Land Surveyor to join the Danville, VA office. You will work as part of a survey crew on boundary, ALTA, topographic, and construction surveys using up-to-date equipment and technology.

Advancement opportunities exist for motivated individuals who learn the skills and tools required of a Land Surveyor. You will assist in daily field operations, maintain safety practices, and support the crew as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma (minimum) and basic math skills required.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn surveying software helpful.
  • Effective communication and dependable work ethic are essential.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass a driving record check required.
  • Willingness to travel and work OT as needed; drug test required.

  • Assist the field supervisor with daily crew workload.
  • Work safely and follow all safety regulations; protect equipment.
  • Keep vehicles and equipment organized and ready for duty.
  • Support boundary, ALTA, topographic, and construction surveys.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varied weather and terrain.

Job description

Entry Level Land Surveyor

Dewberry is currently seeking responsible, highly motivated, and detail oriented individuals to join our Land Surveying department in our Danville, VA office as an Entry Level Land Surveyor to serve our southeastern territory. Applicant must be able to work in a team environment as a member of a survey crew assisting in the performance of boundary, ALTA, topographic, right-of-way acquisition, transmission line, transportation, and construction surveys utilizing the latest equipment and surveying technology. The position has opportunity for advancement for motivated individuals willing to learn the skills and technology required of a Land Surveyor.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the field supervisor with all aspects of the daily crew workload.
  • Work in a safe manner and obey all safety regulations.
  • Ensure safekeeping of equipment.
  • Ensure that vehicles are supplied and kept in an orderly fashion ready for duty.
  • Experience helpful but not necessary.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Must have a High School Diploma (Minimum).
  • Must have good Mathematical skills.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Must have good communication skills.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and ability to pass a driving record check.
  • Must pass a drug test.
  • Must be dependable.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance is a plus.
  • Must be physically able to work outdoors and on construction sites under all weather conditions and terrain.
  • Ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 50 lbs; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes, in addition the ability to stand for long periods on varied surfaces.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required.
  • Must be willing and able to travel for extended periods.
