Job summary

Energy Dome is seeking a highly motivated Land Origination & Site Acquisition Manager to support North American project development for utility-scale energy storage. You will identify, evaluate, and secure sites, driving land origination from initial screening to site control execution.

The role requires expertise in landowner engagement, real estate negotiations, and working with cross-functional teams to advance projects across North America.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Land Management, Business, Geography, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in land origination, land acquisition, real estate development, renewable energy development, transmission development, or infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating land agreements for utility-scale projects.
  • Strong understanding of project development processes within the energy industry.
  • Experience working with landowners, brokers, developers, and local authorities.
  • Familiarity with GIS and mapping tools.
  • Strong contract negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout North America.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and originate new greenfield and brownfield development opportunities for utility-scale energy storage projects.
  • Conduct site screening and evaluation activities based on transmission infrastructure proximity, substation availability, land characteristics, environmental constraints, zoning requirements, permitting considerations, market attractiveness.
  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective sites across targeted North American markets.
  • Perform desktop analysis using GIS platforms, market intelligence tools, transmission maps, and public databases.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with landowners, brokers, and local stakeholders.
  • Lead negotiations for option, lease, easement, purchase, access, and right-of-way agreements.
  • Manage external land agents and consultants where applicable.
  • Coordinate execution of site control agreements and ensure documentation is accurately maintained.
  • Monitor market trends, transmission expansion plans, utility procurement activities, and emerging development hotspots.
  • Provide recommendations on priority development areas.
  • Support strategic market entry initiatives and portfolio expansion opportunities.
  • Work closely with Project Development, Interconnection, Engineering, Legal, Environmental, Permitting, Finance teams.

About the Role:

Energy Dome is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Land Origination & Site Acquisition Manager to support the expansion of our North American project development pipeline.

This role will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, securing, and managing potential project sites for utility-scale Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES) projects across North America. The successful candidate will drive land origination activities from initial site screening through execution of site control agreements and support project advancement activities alongside cross-functional development teams.

The position requires a strong understanding of utility-scale energy project development, landowner engagement, site selection, real estate negotiations, and project origination strategies.

This individual will work closely with project development, interconnection, permitting, engineering, environmental, legal, and finance teams to secure strategic project locations that support Energy Dome's growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
Land Origination & Site Identification
  • Identify and originate new greenfield and brownfield development opportunities for utility-scale energy storage projects.
  • Conduct site screening and evaluation activities based on: Transmission infrastructure proximity, Substation availability, Land characteristics, Environmental constraints, Zoning requirements, Permitting considerations, Market attractiveness
  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective sites across targeted North American markets.
  • Perform desktop analysis using GIS platforms, market intelligence tools, transmission maps, and public databases.
Landowner Engagement & Negotiations
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with landowners, brokers, and local stakeholders.
  • Lead negotiations for: Option Agreements, Lease Agreements, Easements, Purchase Agreements, Access Agreements, Right-of-Way Agreements
  • Manage external land agents and consultants where applicable.
  • Coordinate execution of site control agreements and ensure documentation is accurately maintained.
  • Monitor market trends, transmission expansion plans, utility procurement activities, and emerging development hotspots.
  • Provide recommendations on priority development areas.
  • Support strategic market entry initiatives and portfolio expansion opportunities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with: Project Development, Interconnection, Engineering, Legal, Environmental, Permitting, Finance
  • Maintain accurate land acquisition records and reporting.
  • Support project handover into advanced development phases.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Land Management, Business, Geography, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in land origination, land acquisition, real estate development, renewable energy development, transmission development, or infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating land agreements for utility-scale projects.
  • Strong understanding of project development processes within the energy industry.
  • Experience working with landowners, brokers, developers, and local authorities.
  • Familiarity with GIS and mapping tools.
  • Strong contract negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout North America.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in energy storage, solar, wind, transmission, or large infrastructure projects.
  • Experience securing land rights for projects larger than 50 MW.
  • Knowledge of interconnection processes and transmission development.
  • Understanding of environmental permitting requirements.
  • Existing network of landowners, developers, brokers, and industry stakeholders.
