Job summary

Westervelt Ecological Services (WES) is seeking four Summer Land Management Interns to join our Auburn, Alabama team. This internship provides hands-on experience working on conservation and mitigation sites protecting wetlands, streams, and wildlife habitats.

You'll monitor vegetation, assist with invasive species management and prescribed burns, and use GPS and GIS for mapping and data collection, while collecting field data and supporting restoration projects under the guidance of experienced

Qualifications

  • Current undergraduate or Masters student pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, Wildlife Biology, Forestry, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
  • Completed sophomore year or higher
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Willing and able to do some overnight travel

Summer Internships- Land Management- Auburn, Alabama

Love being outdoors? Want hands-on experience in ecological restoration and conservation?

Westervelt Ecological Services (WES) is looking for Four (4) Summer Land Management Interns to join our team in Auburn, Alabama. This internship provides real-world experience working on conservation and mitigation sites that protect wetlands, streams, and wildlife habitats. This is a typically a 40 hour a week internship.

What You'll Do
  • Monitor vegetation, streams, and wildlife habitat
  • Assist with invasive species management and prescribed burns
  • Use GPS and GIS technology for mapping and data collection
  • Collect and analyze field data
  • Support restoration and land management projects
  • Work alongside experienced environmental professionals
What We're Looking For
  • Current undergraduate or Masters student pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, Wildlife Biology, Forestry, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
  • Completed sophomore year or higher
  • Strong interest in conservation and outdoor fieldwork
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Valid driver's license
  • Willing and able to do some overnight travel

Compensation
  • $20/hour for undergraduate students
