ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join our growing Land Development team based in Tampa or Sarasota, FL.

Responsibilities

    Develop site/civil engineering plans and specifications for a multitude of projects, including large-scale institutional, industrial, and mixed-use developments.
  • Help build and lead a team of civil engineering professionals.
  • Provide technical and career guidance as a mentor to staff.
  • Support preparation of land development design and permitting documents.
  • Assist in project task scope, budget and schedule management.
  • Prepare and review drawings and specifications documenting the systems designed.
  • Attend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss design/permitting issues.
  • Supervise design team activities during Construction Administration.
  • Manage work and development of junior level staff.
  • Manage small, medium, or large tasks.

Skills and Attributes

  • Highly Proficient in the following:
    • MS Office
    • ICPR and/or StormWise
    • WaterCAD
    • StormCAD or similar software
    • AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Proficient in site layout, grading, utility design, erosion/sediment control, and stormwater management.
  • Knowledge of land development construction including codes and development regulations.
  • Knowledge of construction materials and detailing. Detail drawings, sections, and material specifications.
  • Excellent innovative design skills.
  • Strong, creative engineering skills and ability to adhere to office standards.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, strong attention to detail and ability to think critically.
  • Excels at working in a team environment.
  • Exhibits strong leadership skills and growth potential.

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering or related field
  • 11+ years of professional site/civil engineering experience, including consulting/private sector experience
  • PE licensure required
  • FL market experience preferred
