Job summary

MacKay is seeking a Civil Engineer Project Manager to join our Roseville, CA team. You will lead land development projects from planning through design, manage client relationships, project teams, and technical execution to deliver quality results for communities we serve.

Ideal candidates hold a PE license in California or eligibility within 6 months, a bachelor’s in civil engineering, and 6+ years of land development experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
• PE license in California or ability to obtain within 6 months preferred.
• 6+ years of experience in civil engineering with focus on land development.
• Proven experience managing budgets, schedules and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong knowledge of local development codes, standards, and permitting processes.
• Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D and related design software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage land development projects, overseeing scope, schedule, budget, and quality control.
• Serve as the primary client contact, maintaining strong, responsive relationships.
• Oversee and coordinate the work of engineering teams, subconsultants, and support staff; identify scope creep.
• Lead the preparation of site development plans, reports, calculations, and permit applications.
• Review and approve technical designs to ensure compliance with codes and client requirements.
• Support business development by identifying opportunities and participating in proposals.
• Facilitate meetings with clients, public agencies, and internal teams to discuss progress and resolve challenges.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and project team members.
• Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
