Job summary

Thomas & Hutton, based in Mount Pleasant, SC, seeks a Construction Observation Specialist to support land development projects and collaborate with engineers, clients, and contractors. You will gain hands-on field experience while building a foundation in construction observation and project administration.

Responsibilities include reviewing conditions, preparing reports, attending meetings, and monitoring site progress. Growth through PaTHways and university mentoring is offered.

Qualifications

• Construction Management degree preferred, or HS diploma with related construction experience.
• Experience in construction observation, management, or a related field.
• Familiarity with erosion, sedimentation, and pollution-control practices.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and specifications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction observation services for land development projects including utility installation, grading, drainage, and pavement construction.
• Serve as liaison between Project Managers, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Assist with administration of construction contracts and project documentation.
• Review conditions and communicate field observations to the project team.
• Prepare project-related correspondence, reports, and documentation.
• Attend meetings with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
• Visit project sites to monitor progress and compliance.
