Thomas & Hutton is seeking a Construction Observer to support land development projects in Nashville. You will gain hands-on field experience while building a foundation in construction observation and project administration.

You’ll work with Project Managers, engineers, and contractors, review field conditions, prepare reports, and help manage project documentation. A degree in construction management or related experience is preferred, with a valid driver's license and strong communication

Qualifications

• Construction management degree preferred or HS diploma with relevant construction experience.
• Experience in construction observation or construction management.
• Familiarity with erosion controls and pavement/utility work.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and specifications.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Responsabilités

• Perform construction observation for land development projects including utility installation, grading, drainage, and pavement work.
• Act as liaison between Project Managers, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Assist with administration of contracts and project documentation.
• Review field conditions and communicate observations to the project team.
• Prepare reports and correspondence; attend meetings with clients, contractors, and regulators.

What you’ll do:

• Perform construction observation services for land development projects involving utility installation, grading, drainage, and pavement construction
• Serve as a liaison between Project Managers, engineers, contractors, and other project stakeholders
• Assist with the administration of construction contracts and project documentation
• Review project conditions and communicate field observations to the project team
• Prepare project-related correspondence, reports, and documentation
• Attend and participate in meetings with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies
• Arrange and conduct job progress meetings as needed
• Maintain daily field logs and become thoroughly familiar with project plans and specifications
• Coordinate with multiple disciplines on complex land development projects
• Visit project sites regularly to monitor construction progress and compliance
• Manage time effectively to meet project schedules and client expectations
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of project delivery

What you bring:

• Construction Management degree preferred, or High School Diploma with relevant construction experience
• Previous internship or experience in construction observation, construction management, or a related field
• Familiarity with erosion, sedimentation, and pollution-control practices
• Familiarity with pavement construction and utility installation
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and specifications
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to prepare concise and accurate reports
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
