Job summary

Vanasse Hangen Brustlin Inc. seeks a Land Development Co-op student in Bedford, NH for hands-on learning across planning, design, and permitting.

You’ll collaborate with VHB staff and clients to advance projects on a timeline, gaining experience with AutoCAD, GIS, and data analysis in a supportive team environment. Co-op terms run January through June 2027, with fieldwork, data collection, and report preparation as core activities.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Strong interest in transportation, land development, urban design, real estate, environmental, institutional, or energy sector.
  • Ability to work remotely if necessary.
  • Ability to travel locally and complete fieldwork if necessary.

Overview
ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB's Land Development Co-op - Bedford, NH is designed to introduce students into the workforce. The program will build essential professional skills by offering opportunities for hands-on learning in a supportive yet challenging environment. The intern program is designed to round out participants' academic learning with real world experience and help them explore related areas of practice to find the best fit for their career path.

Co-op terms generally run from January - June 2027.

Land Development engineers require a variety of skills to develop ideas and creative solutions that help make challenging development projects a reality. We are there at every stage of a project; from preliminary research, site survey, conceptual/final design, and permitting, all the way through construction. We work closely with VHBers across disciplines, and consultants to ensure a project fulfills the needs of our client.

Collaborate with numerous VHB staff, clients, and consultants to advance projects in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Team oriented with strong capability to work independently
  • Self-motivated with attention to detail
  • A strong work ethic with the desire to learn and achieve
  • Knowledge of drawing and mapping tools such as AutoCAD and GIS
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) required

The hourly pay range for this position, located in New Hampshire, is $19 to $30. The actual hourly rate offered will be determined based on job-related factors, including geographic location, internal equity, experience, credentials, skills, education, work schedule, and other factors permitted by law. The posted hourly range reflects base pay only. Additional compensation and benefits available to eligible employees are outlined in our Total Rewards Program.
