Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Civil Engineer – Land Development in Chicago, IL. You will work independently on smaller projects and as part of a larger team under senior guidance, evaluating and engineering civil systems, performing calculations, and developing 3D models.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, a P.E. or eligibility within 6 months, and at least 5 years of experience. Strong communication, time management, and collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer or the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience.
• Strong knowledge of civil engineering concepts, means and methods, materials, and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for projects of average complexity/size.
• Evaluates, selects, specifies, and engineers all civil engineered systems or products for a project.
• Leads in development of designs through sketches and 3D models.
• Utilizes software to develop 3D models and provides markups for junior engineers/designers.
• Prepares and revises site plans, floor plans, diagrams, and details.
• Leads project coordination meetings with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Assists in client meetings, value analysis, and basic cost estimating.
• Manages project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule with senior engineers.
• Coordinates project specifications with construction documents as needed.
• Performs calculations using standard software and proprietary tools.
• Contributes to constructability reviews and QA/QC on projects.
• Supports development of new standards and specifications for the civil group.
