Responsibilities

• Assisting veterinary technicians and specialists with patient care
• Safe restraint and handling of dogs and cats
• Preparing patients and treatment areas for procedures
• Assisting with in-house laboratory testing and sample preparation
• Cleaning, sterilizing, and maintaining instruments and areas
• Stocking supplies and organizing work areas
• Supporting patient flow throughout the hospital
• Assisting client service team as needed

Part Time Veterinary Assistant

Lancaster Veterinary Specialties is looking for an experienced, dependable, and motivated Part-Time Veterinary Assistant to join our team.

We are a small, close-knit specialty hospital providing Internal Medicine, Surgery, Oncology, and Ophthalmology services. Our days can be busy and priorities can change quickly, so we are looking for someone who enjoys being part of a team, takes initiative, and is comfortable jumping in wherever help is needed.

This is a great opportunity for someone with veterinary hospital experience who wants to continue learning and gain exposure to specialty medicine while working alongside experienced veterinary technicians and specialists.

What we’re looking for:

• At least 1 year of veterinary hospital experience required
• Strong animal restraint and handling skills
• Dependable and punctual with a consistent attendance record
• Self-motivated and able to recognize what needs to be done without always waiting for direction
• Able to work with a sense of urgency and adjust priorities throughout the day
• Comfortable receiving direction from multiple team members in a busy hospital environment
• Positive and professional communication with coworkers, doctors, and clients
• Willing to jump in and help wherever needed
• Able to multitask while maintaining attention to detail
• Someone who genuinely enjoys being part of a team and contributing to a positive work environment

Responsibilities may include:

• Assisting veterinary technicians and specialists with patient care
• Safe restraint and handling of dogs and cats
• Preparing patients and treatment areas for procedures
• Assisting with in-house laboratory testing and sample preparation
• Cleaning, packaging, and sterilizing surgical instruments
• Cleaning and maintaining treatment and patient areas
• Stocking supplies and keeping work areas organized
• Assisting with patient flow throughout the hospital
• Helping the client service team when needed
• Anticipating what needs to be done next and helping the team keep the day moving efficiently

Schedule:

This is a part-time position averaging approximately 2-3 shifts per week. Shifts are primarily daytime into early evening.

No weekends. No holidays.

Compensation:

$16–$20/hour, depending on veterinary experience and skill level.
