Job description

Responsibilities

• Support network engineering activities for LANs and WLANs under the guidance of a Network Engineer.
• Apply knowledge of LAN/WLAN engineering, scientific principles, and computer technologies.
• Assist in survey and design efforts for LAN and WLAN modernization, including hardware selection (e.g., Aruba, Ruckus, Juniper, Cisco) for capacity, redundancy, signal strength, and device placement.
• Conduct cost analysis using historical data and prepare Total-vs-partial estimates to compare OEM electronics, providing recommendations to the government.
• Configure and install network routers, switches, wireless controllers, and access points.
• Support the implementation of Campus Area Network and VLAN migrations.
• Ensure cybersecurity requirements are met for all installed components.
• Assist in developing Implementation Plans and necessary documentation as per the Performance Work Statement (PWS).
• Help develop a List of Materials for hardware needed for installations.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in electrical, computer, or electronics engineering (or related field).
• 10 years’ experience in LAN/WLAN network surveys, design, configuration, and implementation, with relevant training/certifications.
• At least 2 years of technical training.
• Secret Clearance required.
• Passport preferred.
• Certifications: Cisco CCNA, Ruckus, or Juniper JNCIA required (JNCIA preferred).
• IAT Level 2 certification required.
• Additional certifications: CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The work environment is primarily remote with low noise levels. The schedule is day shift, Monday to Friday, with possible evening and weekend work. Travel is expected 60%-75%. The physical demands include handling and lifting weights up to 50 pounds, with vision and mobility requirements.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

U.S. Citizenship and Secret Clearance are required.
