Job summary

Volkert is seeking an experienced LADOTD Certified Inspector for the Southwest Region, based in New Orleans, LA.

The role involves inspecting for contract compliance, testing materials, keeping daily diaries, monitoring operations, and coordinating with contractors and utility owners to keep projects on track.

Candidates must have 1+ year of inspection experience and be able to work nights and weekends; a drug screen and MVR are required to ensure a safe, productive work environment.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of progressive inspection experience or equivalent
• Moderate physical activity including walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and standing
• Willingness to work nights and weekends as required
• Pass pre-employment drug screening and provide a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)

Responsibilities

• Inspect for compliance with contract documents, standards, and specifications
• Test materials and review plans
• Keep daily diaries on project operations and resolve constructability issues to mitigate delays
• Monitor contractor's daily operations and review test reports to ensure work and materials meet specs; oversee utility relocation efforts
• Document pay records, perform construction calculations and enter data
• Advise supervisor on plan revisions, supplemental agreements, or contract adjustments to improve safety, timely delivery and quality
• Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, utility owners, and property owners to minimize delays and maximize project progress
