EDAG Engineering-GmbH is seeking a Ladder Frame Chassis Expert to join our global development team in Michigan. You will design and validate primary structural frame components, create 3D models and 2D drawings, and optimize frame geometry for performance and durability.

You will lead DFMEA/PFMEA efforts, oversee production processes with welding lines, support prototype builds, ensure compliance with safety standards, and drive VA/VE initiatives to reduce weight and cost without sacrificing

Formación

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering.
• 3–5+ years of automotive structural design or vehicle manufacturing experience.
• Proficiency in CATIA or NX, FEA, SPC, and control-chart analysis.
• English proficiency C1–C2.

Responsabilidades

• Design and develop primary structural frame; create 3D models and 2D drawings for rails, crossmembers, brackets, and mounts.
• Optimize frame geometry for vehicle dynamics, body flex, and payload distribution.
• Establish production processes using jigs, fixtures, and robotic arc-welding lines; review metrology reports and adjust as needed.
• Support prototype builds and DV/PV testing; supervise structural durability and proving-ground validation.
• Lead DFMEA and PFMEA activities and document 8D root-cause analyses; implement corrective actions.
• Ensure frames comply with FMVSS, AIS, CMVR and other safety standards.
• Drive VA/VE initiatives for localization, weight reduction, and cost efficiency without compromising durability.

DESCRIPTION

• Design and develop the primary structural frame: create 3D models and 2D drawings for side rails, crossmembers, brackets, and body mounts; optimize frame geometry for vehicle dynamics, controlled body flex, and payload distribution
• Establish production processes using jigs, fixtures, and automated robotic arc-welding lines; review metrology reports and implement shimming or process adjustments to meet quality requirements
• Support prototype vehicle builds and execute DV/PV testing; oversee structural durability, torsional rigidity, and proving-ground validation activities
• Lead DFMEA and PFMEA activities and documentation; conduct 8D root-cause analyses of chassis failures and field issues and implement corrective design actions
• Ensure frame structures comply with applicable national and international automotive safety standards, including FMVSS, AIS, and CMVR requirements
• Drive Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) initiatives for localization, weight reduction, and cost efficiency without compromising off-road durability

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
• 3–5+ years of professional experience in automotive structural design or vehicle manufacturing
• Advanced proficiency in CAD tools such as CATIA or NX, FEA software, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and control-chart analysis
• In-depth knowledge of metallurgy, sheet-metal forming, welding automation systems such as KUKA, and chassis engineering fundamentals
• English (C1-C2)
