Qualifications

• IBCLC internship pathway completed or equivalent education/experience
• Must pass IBCLC exam within 7 months of exam submission deadline
• Nursing licensure preferred

Responsibilities

• Support lactating mothers/parents in selecting optimal feeding positions, latch, frequency, and milk transfer.
• Educate families during pregnancy, perinatal period, and post-partum through classes, consultations, and support groups.
• Assess mother/infant feeding and devise a plan of care for uncomplicated breastfeeding cases.
• Document consultations in the patient record and coordinate with the health care team.
• Collaborate with IBCLC and other providers for assessment and treatment as needed.
• Advocate for breastfeeding and maintain compliance with Breastmilk Substitutes Marketing code.
