Job summary

Adventist HealthCare’s White Oak Medical Center seeks a Lactation Consultant for the Mother and Baby unit. The role supports mothers and families with breastfeeding, performs assessments, and crafts care plans. Candidates will have RN licensure in Maryland, 1 year lactation exp, and IBCLC within 1 year of hire.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Two years’ nursing experience; one year lactation experience.
• Maryland nursing license required.
• IBCLC certification within one year of hire.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assess mother-baby couplet and develop an individualized plan of care.
• Apply critical thinking to resolve breastfeeding difficulties and provide guidance.
• Offer information and problem-solving ideas to families and teach techniques.
• Provide emotional support and crisis intervention to mothers and families; mentor staff.
• Contribute to teamwork and implement evidence-based practice changes.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
