Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a part-time Lactation Consultant RN IBCLC for the Delnor New Life Maternity unit. The role requires a minimum commitment of 48 hours within a six-week scheduling period, including one weekend per month and rotating holidays.

Responsibilities include supporting breastfeeding patients, teaching classes, and assisting in outpatient clinic visits onsite. Required qualifications include a BSN, Illinois RN license, BLS, IBCLC certification, and current experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
• RN licensed in Illinois.
• CPR-BLS per AHA required.
• IBCLC certification required.
• Experience in past five years or new grad within two years.

Responsibilities

• Clinical nursing care for breast-feeding patients.
• Consult with nursing, medical staff and other disciplines.
• Teach nursing care techniques for breast-feeding patients.
• Develop nursing care procedures for breast-feeding patients.
• Coordinate care and educate patients and families.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois

CPR - Basic Life Support via American Heart Association

Certification by the International Board of Lactation Consultants (IBCLC) required

Current experience (within past five years) or new nursing graduate (within past two years)
